GRE To GMAT Score Conversion: What You Need to Know

Have you taken the GRE but wonder what your score would be on the GMAT? It’s normal to be curious about how you’d do on the alternative business school entrance exam.

With that being said, TopMBA has compiled all the necessary information to help you on your GRE to GMAT score conversions. Take your verbal GRE score from the row across the top and your quant GRE score from the first column and find the point where those two meet to get your GMAT score.

Percentile Conversions

While it’s important to figure out your projected score, it’s also important to know what your projected percentile would be post-conversion.

Percentiles will help you factor in your competition when you look at percentile scores from other schools for the study body.

Of course, these are general conversions, so there may be one or two points margin of error – but remember, the conversions only aim to give you a perspective on where you stand against your competition during the admissions process.

If you took the GRE and are wondering how you’d do on the GMAT (or perhaps you’re considering taking the GMAT), figuring out how you’d do on the other test can be difficult – mainly because test takers for each exam often have a different skillset.

For example, your vocabulary skills may be strong, but your grammar skills may be a little weaker – something that will work against you on the GMAT.

Similarly, you could score 90 percent on the GRE quant, but seeing as the quant section in the GMAT is harder, you might not score 90 percent on the GMAT quant section.

Of course, there are many factors you could consider when converting GRE scores to GMAT scores and vice versa, however, using the percentile ranking will give you a rough idea of how you would do on both exams. But don’t forget, when converting scores for two exams that are quite different, there can be limitations, as the pool of GRE test takers isn’t the same as the GMAT pool.
